The Bed & Breakfast “Porta a Mari” (Door to the sea) is found in via Cagliari n° 308, one of the most important ways of the town of Oristano, approximately 5 minutes walk from the historical center, in a calm zone, served from the of public transport system. From the B&B it is easy to reach the main monuments of the city and the tourist offices.
It's very easy to arrive to the B&B: via Cagliari covers Oristano for all its extension from the income north to the south one; to enter from the village of Silì is equally much easy one. Our B&B is close to Piazza Mannu (Mannu Square), along the route of the sartiglia, a medioeval chilvarous tournament that takes place every last sunday and thursday of carnival: you will have the advantage to admire from the balcony of our rooms the procession of the medioeval and typical costumes and of the horsemen.
At the same time, just in front of our B&B you can see the most important and typical processions of the Heaster time, like that wich escorts to the St. Martin's church the crucifix let down from the cross during "su scravamentu", and many other tourist manifestations like that wich evockes the medioeval time. |
Central position of our B&B allows you to reach very easily all the wonderful beaches of the coast and the typical villages around the city of Oristano: everybody will be able to go there thanks to the public transport system (bus stops are just around the corner). The B&B takes its name because it is adjacent to where, until the first years of the 1900's, the Porta a Mari once stood: the "Door to the sea" was one of the door of access of the town-walls, constructed in the medieval period, the one nearest to the sea, that it gave to its name to all the place. |
